Ouray claims to be the Jeeping capital of the world. I don't know if that's true, but there are many fun Jeep trails to try from easy to difficult. We were even told at the Visitor's Center that someone in a BMW had to get airlifted out after getting stuck to the tune of $12k. Ouch! All of the trails cut through many parts of the San Juan Mountains with old and current mines that can be seen and toured along the way. Curtis was pretty excited about trying a moderate trail after the Old Fall River Road in the Rocky Mountains. We started our day off by driving to Box Canyon Falls.  This is a pretty easy hike just south of Ouray.  The High Bridge Trail is part of the Perimeter Trail around Ouray.  It takes you to the top of the Canyon where there is a grated bridge that gives you beautiful views of the valley below that leads to a tunnel. (I thought the views were beautiful...Curtis wasn't as excited as I was.) This tunnel takes you to some stairs that continue...

We took I70 across Colorado yesterday. The roads were not great, lots of construction,  lots of me getting up to make sure nothing had shaken loose or fallen open. But the scenery was beautiful. And we took the bus through the Eisenhower Tunnel.    We are staying at the KOA just outside of Ouray. We chose it because we follow KYD (Keep Your Daydream) on YouTube. They did an episode of their stay in Ouray at this KOA. It doesn't disappoint. This campground is gorgeous! They did allow a fire in the metal rings. We made sure to soak it with water when we were done. We are going to explore some Jeep trails and do a few hikes tomorrow! 

We spent our last day enjoying the KOA campground.  Marc came out and had breakfast with us (Kathryn stayed home to study). Afterward,  I convinced Curtis to take a paddle boat ride with me and walk the trail around the quarry. This KOA has plenty of outdoor activities for the family,  especially children. The paddle boats, put-put golf, pedal cars, etc. are all included.  We went by to play with the pups before Kat and Marc headed to work. Theo howled and acted like he hadn't seen us in forever.   We drove out to Sweetheart Winery where Kathryn works to have a charcuterie board and a glass of wine from the winery. It's a beautiful red barn with a large outdoor venue that had tables spread out all over the place.
