2016 Travels, Perdido Beach, Alabama

I have not posted on this travel blog for a long while because I started a sewing blog and could not find the time to do both.  But I am going to try to be more diligent about keeping this one updated because we have some pretty exciting trips planned in the coming year!!!  So let me catch you up on our 2016 travels in the next few posts!

January 2016:  Perdido Beach, Alabama
If you have never been to the Gulf and checked out our beautiful white beaches, you are missing out! These beaches are so clean and white.  You can walk without hurting your feet in the sand and surf.  I went with my husband for a conference.  Ok.  It was January and a little chilly and I have a terrible time relaxing and doing nothing.  BUT, I had a wonderful time reading and listening to the surf on my deck.  We stayed at Perdido Beach Resort.  It was a very nice, clean place and very quiet!

We ate breakfast at a cute little shop called Brick & Spoon.  The food was spectacular!  It was a little more than we usually pay for breakfast, but we were on vacation.  So, what the heck!  I had eggs benedict with soft-shell crab.  Yummy!

We also drove over to the Flora-Bama.  If you are a Kenny Chesney fan, then this is a must do stop! Kenny wrote a song called "Flora-Bama" and has been known to pop in unannounced.  Unfortunately, he wasn't there!  If you do not know any KC music, you should try it!  He's my favorite!

 We are #PackerFans!!!

We took a drive and found a restaurant called the Cobalt.  It was a little hard to find, but what a find!  They had a buffet brunch.  I had my first mimosa and loved it!

My last recommendation is the Acme Oyster House in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  Get a dozen chargrilled oysters and drizzle the butter sauce and lemon over them and enjoy!  They also offer all kinds of fish dishes, soups and salads.  This is a must visit restaurant!  Here is the link to their website:  http://www.acmeoyster.com/gulf-shores/
