Fort Collins, Colorado

Yesterday was a long day. We got to see where Marc and Kat live. We got to love on the granddogs. Theo howled "hello" for several minutes demanding our attention!   Marc cooked us a great breakfast before we headed off to explore Fort Collins.  The first stop was Rotary Park.  Rotary Park is located on the Horsetooth Reservoir west of Fort Collins.  There are places to hike, bike and boulder...which Marc says he's done...which scares me. The reservoir is pretty large with many people enjoying the water skiing, tubing, and swimming.  It was pretty hot out. We climbed down to the water to play for a little bit to cool off. Afterward, Marc and Kathryn took us downtown to check out a couple of breweries and see Old Town.  Old Town is a pretty neat area with plenty of bars, restaurants and unique shops.  Fort Collins is known for its many breweries, pubs and bars.  Colorado State University is located here and it is definitely a college town.  It is ver

Yesterday, we enjoyed morning coffee with Mom and Dad. So we left after noon. But it was nice to just sit and talk to Mom and Dad for a while. Curtis and I really enjoy that when we visit. The one thing you are guaranteed driving through Kansas is wind! Curtis was fighting to keep the big brick (as he calls it) in the lane. I wanted to drive, but Curtis said it wasn't a good idea.  We passed several wind farms. I told Curtis I'd like to climb inside and see how they work and then check out the view from the top. He thinks I'm crazy! We stopped in Burlington, Colorado at the Burlington RV Park. To be honest, it's a gravel parking lot. But it had about 12 full hookup, 50 amp sites. The lady I spoke to was very friendly.  Our site was taken when we got there,  so I texted her and she told us to pick another one. The interesting thing was she said payment was on the honor system and she gave Curtis a Veteran's discount.  So we filled out the litt

We drove a long day yesterday...well, I say we...Curtis drove a long day yesterday.  We stopped overnight in Wichita and saw my family.  We stayed at USI RV campground in Wichita near my parents house.  It's a very nice campground with very friendly people running it.   My parents picked us up and we went to my sister Kelly's house and I finally got to see my nephew.  I haven't seen him since Christmas and he's grown so much.  My other sister, Erin, and her family came so we got see our other nephews, Paxton and Landon, too.  It was a nice break.  Dad cooked us his famous pancakes for breakfast this morning before we left.  Dad used to make the boys' initials when he made them pancakes. Curtis said he hasn't ever gotten an "C", so Dad made him one this morning.  😍 We are on our way west toward Colorado.  Not sure where we'll stop tonight yet.  That's the fun part of traveling.  Tomorrow we will be in Fort Collins with Marc and Kathryn!  I can&

Colorado Road Trip 2020

2020 has been an unusual and strange year. The Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic that began when we made our Grand Canyon trip is still unresolved. There is a lot of racial unrest and rioting that has gripped the country. Some people might think we're crazy to hit the road. But our oldest son, Marc, and fiancée, Kathryn,  moved to Fort Collins,  Colorado.  As a mama, I want...no...I need to see where he is living and make sure he is ok. We are stopping in Kansas to check on my parents along our travels.  Yes, we will be careful and practice social distancing as much as my mom will allow. We left later than expected last night. So we only made it to Corinth,  Mississippi. We parked in the Super Walmart parking lot (after asking permission) to get a good night's sleep. Thank you, Walmart! It was a pretty quiet Walmart. I noticed at least two semis parked near us this morning.   It's 6 am and we are on the road. It looks like we will drive through Hurricane Laura as we traverse
